I knew an old russian painter when I lived in LA, named Constantine Cherkas. His philosophy behind painting was to paint the same scene/landscape, over the course of the day, so as the light shifted, shadows moved, that's how he painted it. Various shafts of light, the lighting on each subject changing several times on the same canvas. Painting with the shutter open. Brain hurts.
